    • Minister of State for Trade and Commerce, Mr Michael Ahern TD, has announced that he was accepting proposed changes to the Directors Compliance Statements (DCS) proposed by the Company Law Review Group (CLRG).

    • The Irish accountancy industry grew by 21.5 per cent over the past year, bringing the total fee income earned amongst the twenty-two participants in this year’s FINANCE Accountancy Survey to €782 million, up from €643.4 million last year, with growth amongst the 'Big 4', up 18.4 per cent on 2004.

    • The European Court of Auditors has qualified the EU's annual accounts for the eleventh year running. The auditos repeated their reservations concerns about the accuracy of the financial records in the 2004 budget, totalling nearly £70bn, and refused to give a formal 'Statement of Assurance' about their validity.

    • CRH plc, Jurys Doyle Hotel Group plc and Concern were just some of the companies cited for the excellence of their annual reports and financial accounts in this year's Published Accounts Awards, which were announced at a lunch today, 18 November 2005.

    • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) has welcomed this week’s announcement by European Internal Market Commissioner, Charlie McCreevy, of a consultation forum on auditor liability.
