  • The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., welcomed the increases in export refund rates for butter and WMP agreed at today's Milk Management Committee in Brussels. The common refund rate for butter increased from €96.50 to €99.50/100kg and the maximum tender refund rate for butter increased €103.40 to €106.70/100kg. This follows increases in the common and tender refund rates for butter in February and March. The export refund rate for WMP was also increased from €50.00 to €54.00/100kg (up 8%). All of these measures take effect immediately.

  • The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., is on a food business development visit to the United States this week organised by Enterprise Ireland. The purpose of the visit is to secure foreign direct investment in the Irish food industry from the US and to establish Food Innovation & Research Networks between the US and Ireland. Minister Coughlan will also engage in discussions with a number of key political figures in Washington DC on agriculture and food issues. Ms Angela Kennedy, co-founder of Megazyme International as Chairman of the Board of An Bord Bia.
  • The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan TD, today welcomed the resumption of the Ro-Ro service between Rosslare and Cherbourg.

  • Mr. John Browne TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food with responsibility for Forestry, has announced the allocation of a €124 million package for forestry in 2005.
